Distribution of the population in Tunisia by age group during the years 1966 and 2024

.."In 2024, the population in Tunisia is mainly composed of people of working age (15 to 59 years), representing approximately 60.3% of the total population. However, since 2004, this proportion has decreased slightly in favor of the elderly population, whose share has increased significantly over time: it rose from 6% in 1966 to 11.6% in 2014, then 16.9% in 2024. At the same time, the proportion of children under 5 years of age has decreased, from 19% in 1966 to 5.9% in 2024, thus demonstrating the drastic decline in the fertility rate in Tunisia. A similar trend is observed among children aged 5 to 14, whose share fell from 28% in 1966 to 17% in 2024. However, it should be noted that the slight increase recorded between 2014 and 2024 in this last age group is explained by the increase in the number of births between 2010 and 2019."....
